Why get an mental health assessment?

Mental health assessments give patients a clearer understanding of what they’re experiencing and why. They help identify underlying conditions, highlight personal strengths, and guide the development of effective treatment plans. With a proper assessment, patients can access the right supports sooner, feel validated in their struggles, and move forward with greater confidence and direction.

Assessing Mood Disorders

We offer detailed assessments for Bipolar I Disorder, focusing on symptoms of mania, mood cycles, and how these experiences impact daily functioning. For clients who experience periods of depression combined with episodes of elevated energy or confidence, our Bipolar II Disorder assessment helps determine whether these patterns meet the criteria for hypomania and a Bipolar II diagnosis. We also evaluate Other Specified Bipolar Disorder for individuals who struggle with significant mood instability but do not fit the classic presentation of Bipolar I or II, providing essential diagnostic clarity when symptoms are complex or uncertain.

Our Major Depressive Disorder assessment supports clients who are experiencing persistent low mood, loss of interest, fatigue, or suicidal thoughts, helping determine whether these symptoms meet the criteria for a depressive episode and what treatment options may be most effective. For individuals who experience depressive symptoms that cause distress but do not fit full diagnostic criteria, our Other Specified Depressive Disorder assessment clarifies symptom patterns and offers tailored recommendations that match each client’s unique needs.

Assessing Psychotic Disorders

For individuals who have experienced unusual perceptions, beliefs, or episodes in the past and are unsure how to interpret them, we offer assessments for Possible Lifetime Psychotic Disorder to determine whether historical symptoms may indicate a prior psychotic event. If someone is currently experiencing hallucinations, paranoia, perceptual disturbances, or sudden behavioural changes, our assessment for Possible Current Psychotic Disorder provides an immediate and thorough evaluation to clarify the presence of psychosis, assess risk, and guide next steps in care.

Assessing Substance Use Disorders

Our assessments for Alcohol Use Disorder help clients who are concerned about their drinking patterns, loss of control, withdrawal symptoms, or alcohol-related consequences. We evaluate severity, risk factors, and the broader impact on health and daily functioning. We also offer assessments for Non-Alcohol Substance Use Disorder for individuals seeking clarity about their relationship with drugs, dependence patterns, co-occurring mental health concerns, and options for treatment or recovery support.

Assessing Anxiety Disorders

Our Panic Disorder assessment supports individuals who experience sudden panic attacks, intense physical symptoms, or fear of future episodes, helping determine whether these experiences reflect panic disorder or another condition. For clients who avoid certain places, situations, or environments due to fear of losing control or being unable to escape, we assess for Agoraphobia and explore how avoidance patterns impact daily life.

We offer Social Anxiety Disorder assessments for individuals who feel significant fear, embarrassment, or avoidance in social or performance situations, helping uncover the root causes of their anxiety and identifying effective treatment options. Clients who experience chronic worry, physical tension, or difficulty controlling anxious thoughts may benefit from our Generalized Anxiety Disorder assessment, which clarifies symptom patterns and contributing stressors.

For those dealing with intrusive thoughts or repetitive behaviours, our Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder assessment explores the nature of obsessions and compulsions, the distress they cause, and how they interfere with functioning. Individuals coping with trauma, flashbacks, nightmares, or hypervigilance may benefit from our Posttraumatic Stress Disorder assessment, which provides a trauma-informed evaluation of symptoms and personalized recommendations for care.

Assessing Eating Disorders

We provide sensitive and thorough assessments for Anorexia Nervosa for clients who struggle with restrictive eating, significant weight changes, or body image concerns, helping determine severity and medical risk. Our evaluation for Bulimia Nervosa supports individuals experiencing cycles of binge eating followed by purging or compensatory behaviours, offering clarity, understanding, and treatment guidance. We also assess for Binge-Eating Disorder, focusing on patterns of binge episodes, emotional triggers, and the impact these behaviours have on health and well-being, along with clear next steps for evidence-based treatment.
